“I installed it myself and had no issues A pellet stove is like a pair of shoes in that you have to get used to different types of pellets and setting. My propane furnace doesn’t run when I’m running pellet stove and I let it go out at night just to warm up basement (I live in northern Minnesota) Highly recommended and only reason I gave it four stars is I’m not used to to automation Ha”
“Start with the stove itself. Works as advertised, install was easy unit is heavy you'll need a buddy. Imo you will need to make your own front legs for support to keep from tipping out and reduce stress on stove. So far heating house up nicely and keeping my propane usage down which was the goal. Good looking flame, idle feature is perfect. Noisier than expected but not terrible. Only been burning a month cant comment parts reliability. Safety features work, gone through 15 bags just keep it cleaned out and she runs love this thing. Easier and worlds safer then messing with firewood, run all night and dont worry about waking up to burning house.
Cons so far. Unit painting was very sub par. Thin paint could see metal through in spots overspray on the emblem. Much better painters doing graffiti on overpasses. Other issue was shipping. Make sure to open everything and inspect i didnt which is my fault for being at work and having someone else take delivery. The vacuum it came with was crushed like a tin can, the surround was bent and twisted, took me half a day to get back into shape. They also bent the fins on heater return and the side panel. Looked like it was dropped or stacked either way wish i sent back instead of accepting and making due like i always do.”
“I purchased the HP22 Insert which I am extremely happy with, Install was easy did it myself only needed help twice to pick it up and test fit for the piping and the final placement. Our home is approx. 2400 sqft. We turned the oil burner off and have been running on pellets house gets as warm as we want upstairs and downstairs stay very close in temp when running it in temp mode almost exactly the set point. I should mention it's only the first two weeks and temps outside are 40's during the day and low 30's at night sometimes dipping into the 20's and my wife shuts the stove down around 10 am every day and the house stays warm until I come home around 5 ish give it a quick vacuum. I mean clean out is a breeze so far thumbs up.”
“This is a very nice unit overall. It functions well, has nice controls, and puts out good heat. However, there are two things that I'm not thrilled with.
The control panel that comes mounted into the surround/shroud is deeper than the surround itself. On top of that, it's installed using thick steel brackets with round-head screws, so it ends up sticking out the back more than 1/4 inch. The screws or brackets hit the fireplace stone and won't let the surround get flush to the stones. I had to take off the brackets and replace them with thin strapping. It still sticks out the back, but less than 1/8 inch.
This is our first pellet stove so I'm not sure whether this is a common problem, but there seems to be an issue with the auger system. It works great when the hopper is full. But when the pellet supply gets below about half of capacity, the pellets are delivered progressively more slowly. This eventually causes a Low Temperature warning, and the unit turns itself off. This effectively cuts the hopper capacity in half because it has to be filled whenever it gets below the halfway mark.
As I said, this is a very nice unit and I would like to give it 5 stars, but the auger issue doesn't allow me to do that.”
“So far we love our Insert. We’ve had weather in the low 30s and the majority of our 2600 sqft house stay above 70 degrees with the furthest room dipping to 68 or 69 at night.”
