“The DEVOS AMPak 145 Portable Power Base Battery turned out to be an excellent addition to my Starlink Mini setup and exceeded my expectations.
Installation couldn’t be easier. You simply set the battery into the base, and it’s held securely in place by friction. There are no clips, latches, or complicated mounting hardware to deal with, making battery swaps quick and hassle-free.
Battery life was another pleasant surprise. With multiple devices connected and what I would consider normal usage, I got 5 hours of runtime on a full charge. Based on my previous experience, I was expecting closer to 4 hours, so getting an extra hour was a welcome bonus.
One feature that really impressed me is what appears to be power pass through capability. When I connected the AMPak to an external USB-C battery, the external battery showed a 100 watt output. It appeared that approximately 65 watts were charging the AMPak while the remaining 35 watts were simultaneously powering my Starlink Mini. This makes it easy to extend runtime without interrupting service.
The AMPak is also useful beyond powering Starlink. It doubles as a portable power bank, allowing you to charge phones, tablets, or even power a laptop when needed, making it a versatile piece of gear to keep on hand.
I also appreciated that it comes with both an AC charger and a USB-C charging cable, so everything needed to get started is included in the box.
One tip from my own experience: I used the entire setup inside a waterproof dry bag while fishing from both a boat and a kayak. It worked flawlessly and allowed me to live stream while kayak fishing in remote Baja, all while keeping the electronics protected from water and spray.
For me, the biggest advantage of the AMPak 145 is that it acts as a voltage buffer. This solves one of the biggest challenges many Starlink Mini users face. The Starlink Mini requires a higher input voltage than many portable power stations and battery packs can provide directly. Several of my friends have run into this exact problem. With the AMPak in the system, it bridges that gap, allowing Starlink Mini to run reliably from power packs that otherwise wouldn’t be able to power it. That alone makes it a worthwhile investment for anyone using Starlink Mini in the field.
Overall, the DEVOS AMPak 145 is simple to install, delivers longer runtime, offers useful pass through charging, doubles as a portable power bank, and solves one of the most common power compatibility issues for Starlink Mini users. If you rely on Starlink while camping, overlanding, boating, or fishing in remote locations, it’s a product that’s easy to recommend.”
“So far so good. Only used for 1 charge so far with my Mini Starlink and it seemed to last quite a while but I didn't time it. I will on the next usage. Fits in my hard case seemlessly when attached to the Starlink. Great design!”

“The DEVOS AMPak 145 provides a highly reliable, sustained power solution for remote connectivity hardware. A critical advantage of this power bank is its form factor, which allows it to integrate directly into the Veritas Starlink Mini Mount. Seating the AMPak 145 into the Veritas chassis requires only a slight modification to the mount's internal retention bar to accommodate the battery's specific dimensions. Once the clearance is adjusted, the battery locks in securely, creating a consolidated single-unit power-and-communications node that eliminates the need for external cable routing in the field.
I deploy this integrated power and network assembly primarily for range communications while conducting firearms training classes. Maintaining a stable network connection in off-grid or rural training environments is a standard logistical challenge. The AMPak 145 delivers consistent, uninterrupted power to the Starlink terminal across multi-hour instructional blocks. The capacity is sufficient to run the system through an entire training evolution without requiring a secondary power source, solar array, or generator on the firing line.
The power stability provided by the AMPak 145 is essential for the high-bandwidth data transmission required in modern marksmanship coaching. During long-range precision engagements, I use the active network to stream live, high-definition video footage from downrange target cameras directly to digital displays at the firing line. Concurrently, the system handles the continuous upload and synchronization of atmospheric parameters and ballistics data to cloud-based coaching applications. The AMPak 145 meets the Starlink Mini's power requirements for transmitting heavy, continuous data loads without voltage drops or thermal throttling.
The DEVOS AMPak 145 meets the rigorous power demands of professional field instruction. When paired with the Veritas mount, it meets the functional requirements for remote network access, enabling advanced diagnostics, real-time visual feedback, and reliable communication in grid-denied locations.”
Thank you for the incredibly detailed breakdown of your setup and how you’re deploying the AMPak 145 in the field. We really appreciate you sharing such a technical, real-world application of the system.
It’s great to hear that the battery’s capacity and stability are supporting continuous Starlink Mini operation during extended training blocks, and that it’s able to handle the sustained data and connectivity demands of your coaching workflow.
Feedback like this is extremely valuable to us, especially from users pushing the system in demanding professional environments. Thank you again for your support and for taking the time to share your experience.

“I wasn't happy with my AMPak 145 purchase. The first unit I received came scuffed up like it had been used by someone, returned, then shipped to me. To their credit, Devos paid the shipping to return and send me another one. When I got the 2nd one, it appeared to be brand new... BUT... when I went to use it, my Starlink Mini would start up, I could connect to its network, then it would disappear, start up, I could connect, disappear. It seemed to me like the unit was in a boot loop. When I powered it from another power source, it worked as expected. My only conclusion was that the AMPak 145 wasn't providing enough start-up juice to the Starlink Mini and it was restarting. I had to return my AMPak 145 and am seeking another portable solution because getting access to Starlink for a few seconds every couple of minutes is more frustrating than no access at all. I like the idea of the AMPak but I wasn't impressed at all. Also of note, there wasn't a scrap of documentation included with either unit I received. Even if it was a business card with a URL to online documentation, that would've been better than NOTHING. It's almost like the Devos LightRanger line and the AMPak 145 are made/packaged/shipped by completely different companies. I've been nothing but happy with my LightRanger 2000 and nothing but disappointed by the AMPak 145.”
