“I’ve found it good on the beach but dreadful in the park which is where I would mainly use it. It’s too thin so it’s uncomfortable sitting on the park floor with my little baby. Also it naturally gets mud on it in the park but that has left it super stained and the dirt won’t wash out. It seems to be a particularly porous/stainable material as I’ve just done normal picnic-type usage. It’s really discoloured now. Good size though so a shame it’s not worked so well for us!”

We're sorry to hear it hasn't been quite as comfortable for your park adventures. Our picnic blankets are designed to be lightweight and easy to carry, which does mean they won't offer quite the same cushioning as a padded blanket on particularly lumpy or uneven ground.
As for the staining, that's certainly not what we'd hope to hear. While our blankets are made to handle outdoor adventures, mud can sometimes be a stubborn customer! Once the blanket has been washed a few times, we recommend putting it through a hot wash (up to 60 C), and pairing this with a good stain remover to try to lift the mud out. 😊
We have also left some handy tips for taking care of your Dock & Bay products below:
- Cold machine wash (under 30 degrees). After the first few washes it's ok to turn up the heat.
- Try not to use fabric softener, as over time it can reduce the absorbency of the towel. Using fabric softener will not destroy your towel the first time it is used, but over time, it can degrade the performance of your product, and we want it to last as long as possible for you!
- Do not bleach, or put near fire or hot implements.
- Tumble drying is ok if you need to.
