“I've had a unit for over 7 years. The replacement pads are of lower quality compared to the originals. Thinner gel and the electrical connectors are smaller and more delicate. I have to be careful separating and connecting new pads.”

Hi Bill! Thank you for your feedback. The gel pads did go through a design change a few years back. The new pads are cloth back, and they are stickier and more flexible. This improvements allow the gel pads to stick nicer and firmer on areas of our bodies that are not "flat". E.g. around the ankles and is also easier for people with arthritis or dexterity issues to use.
