I am not one to give reviews but for Adventure Canada I must. It was much more than the descriptions and photos portrayed. It was a true experience from the moment I phoned to get information to the time that we left the ship. Professional, thoughtful, interesting, engaging, inclusive, secure, entertaining. There, I said it!

Really appreciated the accommodation, the educational talks, the off-ship opportunities and the nimble thinking of the cruise director and the ship's captain when plans had to change. A thoroughly memorable adventure.

If I were to write a real narrative, it would take too long. Unless otherwise noted, these flashbacks reflect exceptional unique wonderful experiences: colors of icebergs glowing from within, immense size of some icebergs, access with the First Nations cultural resource folks on the ship, proximity with the lifetime experience experts on the ship, raw geological landforms, for a moment I felt what it might have felt like rounding a bend alone in my kayak and sighting an inukshuk finally high on a hill, guides with long guns taking up positions on the high ground to keep us safe, comfort of the ship and freedom to choose dining partners at every (fine) meal, captain's skill and willingness to maneuver the ship to give us best possible experiences of wildlife and views, impeccable detailed planning and warmth of expedition leader and her ability to informally keep a wild crowd in order, her articulateness, and her ability to be flexible and replan and replan again and manage all the changes when events outside anyone's control intervened. Two most memorable experiences: 1) LAST DAY. One last zodiac trip available. Bitter cold wind and rain. I opted for the one more ride, last person on the zodiac, and probably 30 years older than anyone else there, but you only live once, right? The "kids" were urging the driver to zoom, in my likes, way too fast through the freezing chop, and he went for it. My hands barely holding on were completely numb. Just as I was about to speak up as a party pooper, we rounded a bend and he suddenly pulled off the throttle, for there on the rocks was mama polar bear and her two cubs. We watched them climb the steep rock face; one kept falling back down yet kept trying to pull itself up again. mama did not go down to retrieve it, but stood and watched intently all its efforts with full attention. It did ultimately get itself up that rock. Lessons learned by all... 2) LAST DAY NIGHT DAY: Same freezing cold chop, 20-30 minute zodiac ride into Iqaluit to get plane. Many hours wait in Iqaluit due to weather delay of plane. Plane cancelled. I think there may have been a passport control issue as well: the official couldn't get there because of the weather? Long cold choppy zodiac back to ship. All bags unavailable. Indeterminate hours of delay. I napped. Another long cold choppy zodiac back to Iqaluit. Flight connections in Quebec, then Toronto, trashed. I therefore missed my flight Toronto > San Francisco, and had 4 more hours in Toronto. But you know what? The staff's ability to manage all of us and this utter mess and make all these new arrangements on the fly was EPIC, and it remains a fine memory! Truly a trip of a lifetime. Thank you.
