Bhutan is a beautiful mountainous country with many large protected areas and a culture that promotes conservation. As a result, the birding and wildlife are exceptional. This tour features visits to many great locations and birding. Our guides were great and we had some exceptional bird sightings, including a Himalayan Monal that we watched for many minutes, a Tawny Fish Owl with two chicks, a White-Bellied Heron (one of 60 in the wild), two Black-necked Cranes, Ibisbill, a large flock of Blood Pheasant, many Satyr Tragopan, and much more, including many large mixed flocks. A surprising highlight for me was our memorable visits to local monasteries. Bhutan is still a country that is not over-run by tourism and as a result the tenting sites used in this tour are basic, though the hotels were all good to excellent and the food was consistently good and nutritious. I highly recommend this tour and visiting Bhutan.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful review. We’re delighted to hear that Bhutan made such a strong impression and that the tour offered such a rewarding mix of birding, wildlife, landscapes, and cultural experiences. We’re very pleased that the guiding team helped create such a memorable trip, and that the itinerary provided opportunities to enjoy Bhutan’s remarkable birdlife, from colourful mountain specialties to lively mixed flocks. It’s also wonderful to know that the monastery visits were a meaningful and unexpected highlight. We appreciate your comments about the accommodations and camping arrangements as well. Bhutan’s remoteness is part of what makes it so special, and we’re glad the overall experience was memorable and worthwhile.

A well-organized tour ranging through many habitats and elevations with experienced and patient guides. We spent four nights camping (spread over 10 days) and the rest in comfy local hotels. Our awesome road crew served us breakfast and lunch every day providing lots of vegetables and fruits with each meal. We experienced unexpected snow one day and many chilly mornings so pack many layers. A unique experience in a truy unique country. Go!
