“This was our second tour with Eagle Eye & first tour with them in Canada. In the past we have done tours in Trinidad, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru and Uganda with an expectation that almost every bird we saw would be new to us. However, this tour in our home country was simply wonderful. Most of the birds were familiar, but seen in such large numbers during migration, and in completely different habitat than is familiar to us; it was breathtaking. Having come to appreciate grassland habitat through our association with land trusts and field naturalist clubs over the past decade, we were particularly interested to see the great Canadian prairie at Grasslands National Park, as well as Cypress Hills. The vistas and views were spectacular. We enjoyed the Burrowing Owls, the Sharp-tailed Grouse lek, the sunsets, mammals (including bison) and also the sense of history. We really enjoyed our guide Rick Szabo and the support from Eagle-Eye staff.”
Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful reflection on your second Eagle-Eye tour. We’re delighted to hear that the prairies, Grasslands National Park, Cypress Hills, migration spectacle, wildlife, and wide-open vistas made such a strong impression. It’s wonderful that familiar birds felt new again in such remarkable numbers and habitats. Rick will be so pleased to hear your kind words, and we truly appreciate your continued support.
“I wanted to see the vast, flowing grasslands and the grassland bird species in SW SK and that’s exactly what happened. While enjoying iconic SK weather (hot ! and sunny) we saw most of the grassland birds plus thousands of northbound shorebirds plus Cypress Hills forest species. Rick Szabo is a superb guide and was totally focussed on finding these birds and making us comfortable.”
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. We’re delighted that the tour delivered the wide-open grasslands, specialty birds, shorebirds, and Cypress Hills species you were hoping for. Rick will be so pleased to hear your kind words—he truly cares about both the birds and the comfort of our guests. We’re grateful you joined us in southwest Saskatchewan!
