Apr 14 - 22, 2026 | The Upper Texas Coast is a birding paradise during the spring. Our Texas Spring birding tour will take in the migration spectacle as tens of thousands of birds pass through this region. We will visit High Island, Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, the extensive salt flats and marshes of the Bolivar Peninsula and northward to the beautifully unique Hill Country. Bird highlights will be many including the critically endangered Black-capped Vireo and Golden-cheeked Warblers.

“Each day was busy and full of great sightings. I particularly enjoyed seeing numerous Painted Buntings in the wild and numerous Warblers. Another highlight: seeing millions of bats emerge from a cave at dusk- truly thrilling! Smith Oaks Sanctuary and Sabine Woods Santuary were great places to visit. Food was plentiful, with Texas size portions, although some dinners were a bit later than desired for a good sleep afterwards. Guides Skye and Louie were highly skilled at finding birds and worked well as a team.”

“Skye and Louie were simply the BEST! We saw so many birds and the tour was beautifully organized and executed. Even when the weather attempted to bust some plans they figured out a way to turn it into an advantage. Great time and wonderful birding!”

“A trip we'll worth doing. The guides Skye and Louie are top class and got us on many special birds that we may never have seen if we were not part of an organised tour. In addition to the wonderfull birds and butterfly species we saw there was a great sense of comraderie amongst the group. I would have no qualms in recommending this tour.”

“It was a great trip! We saw lots of species, great looks at many. Also beautiful scenery and the Frio Bat Cave was spectacular. Alyssa was a super trip leader. She has great ears, knows all the vocalizations and works hard to get everyone on the bird. She was very patient with us and did an excellent job of coordinating the trip overall. The meals, including the picnic lunches, were great too. We had a very congenial group, so had much fun along the way. Definitely a worthwhile trip, and recommend it to others.”

“Alyssa was a great guide. Great knowledge of birds & bird songs/calls. Very hard worker! All of the places that we went to were beautiful & great for seeing a wide variety of birds. I'm glad we saw such different habitats. It was a lot of driving, but I guess there is no other way to see such wonderful places. I'm very impressed with all that Alyssa did for us. It was so nice to get the checklist & do that every day. I needed a break one day, & just decided to stay in. I'm 78 years old, so it could be just me, but a break now & then is probably a good idea.”
