We went to see birds, Puffin and Gannet being those of primary interest. We saw lots of Puffin and Gannet and got great photos. There weren't as many other birds as we'd expected. We enjoyed touring the Rock. St John's colorful houses, the many different rocky shorelines, lighthouses, and quaint villages. The people of Newfoundland were very friendly and helpful. The lodgings were very nice, and if you like seafood, there was plenty, it was fresh, and well prepared. The guides were very knowledgeable birders and made sure everyone got a view of the target birds.

The size our group seemed to be ideal to make all phases of the tour memorable in a good way. The two birding guides were excellent and did such a good job accommodating all ten participants that even our much less than ideal weather seemed a minor glitch to me. I came home from over a week of dreary weather wanting to return to Newfoundland, especially if the Stellers Sea Eagle could only be guaranteed. I liked the mix of nature and culture, especially the contact with locals in smaller towns and villages. Food was not the primary motivation for choosing this tour but the foodie in me came home happy too.

The birding was wonderful - puffins, gannets, murres. The guides were so friendly and excellent at finding birds. We had great accommodations and meals. The stark Newfoundland scenery was lovely. The small tour was nice and allowed you to really get to know your fellow participants. It was well worth the money and the time.

How can a company have guides that are more like superheroes??? How can these guys manage meal and lodging logistics, travel schedules, itinerary changes, vehicle malfunctions, horrible weather, all while wrangling 13 bodies from many time zones AND identifying every single bird within miles? I don't know. But they did, and they do, and you should just sign up. Professional, kind, intelligent, passionate about birds, and eager to serve. Yes. Go.

This tour is an excellent way to learn about the wildlife and culture of Newfoundland, a very interesting portion of Canada. The trips to seabird besting colonies were of particular interest and allowed close-up observation of birds that are normally observed at a distance, if at all. The guides on the tour were excellent; very knowledgeable about the wildlife in the area and flexible enough to provide alternative educational opportunities when planned events were limited by weather or other unforeseen events. Trips to museums in the region provided an excellent overview of the history and culture of Newfoundland.
