The EGW Solution for Your Custom Trigger Job
The secret to a world-class trigger is using parts that are dimensionally perfect and made from the right materials. Here’s why our disconnector is the superior choice:
Ball Head for a Smoother Pull: The unique ball head design creates a single, low-friction point of contact with the sear spring, eliminating the gritty, dragging feel of a flat-faced disconnector. The result is a noticeably smoother and lighter trigger pull.
Extra Material for a Perfect Fit: This disconnector is intentionally left "long" to give a professional gunsmith the maximum amount of material to work with. This allows for precise fitting to achieve the perfect trigger reset without any slop.
Machined from Solid Tool Steel: We don't use MIM (Metal Injection Molded) parts for critical components. Our disconnectors are CNC-machined from solid American tool steel and heat-treated for exceptional durability.
Proudly Made in the USA: Every component is manufactured in our Quakertown, PA facility and is backed by a lifetime of service.

1911 Disconnector FAQ
What does a disconnector do in a 1911?
The disconnector has two primary jobs: it acts as a "connector" between the trigger and the sear to fire the gun, and it "disconnects" the trigger from the sear when the slide is out of battery, preventing the gun from firing. It is also responsible for resetting the trigger after each shot. The precise length of the disconnector is critical for a safe and reliable trigger reset.
Why is gunsmith fitting absolutely required?
This part is specifically designed for professional use. An improperly fitted disconnector can cause a range of dangerous malfunctions, from the trigger failing to reset to the gun firing out of battery. This is not a drop-in part; it MUST be installed and fitted by a qualified 1911 gunsmith who can precisely trim it to length for your specific firearm.
Gunsmith Installation Required
For the safety and proper function of your firearm, this disconnector MUST be installed and fitted by a professional gunsmith.

After reading extensively about 1911 disconnector function and fitting I began to suspect my o.e.m. disconnector might be responsible for the slight "click" I was feeling right before reaching the final part of the trigger pull. After removing the slide I checked function and sure enough the factory disconnector fairly rattled around in the disconnector tunnel during the trigger pull, moving fore and aft noticeably. This is on a $3K semi-custom 1911 from a major maker! I installed the EGW extractor after carefully polishing the "ball" so that it cleared the tunnel; it was a little too tight to start with. Checked function again and observed almost no movement, except vertically, during the trigger pull. Dry-firing and live-firing revealed that the click was gone; totally solved my problem. I highly recommend this part.

It works flawlessly. No extra work needed to fit in. Every dimension is in spec just like most EGW parts I bought in the past.

This is a very high quality designed, machined and finished part. The first stage of my trigger, the leaf spring that mates with the disconnector, of my 1911 BE gun has had a stick/slip drag feel to it for a few years now of which I could not polish out. I read the product details of this disconnector and it had not occurred to me that the disconnector could be riding or dragging on the sear pin when the trigger was moving to the rear. I purchased this and replaced the old disconnector with no other modifications and can truly say that all stick/slip drag is gone and that disconnector worked in my 1911. Disconnector drag on the sear pin is real and can be eliminated wit this part.
