Will not work with Schwartz style safety. Installation Note for Springfield Prodigy Users When installing this extractor in a Springfield Prodigy, you must loosen the right-side cover plate screw before installation. Once the extractor is properly seated, tighten the screw back down to ensure secure fitment and proper function.Featured on gunmann.com The steel available to us today is of much higher quality than what was available in 1911 when the 1911 pistol was first produced. Improvements to the entire manufacturing process include better alloys, more controlled furnaces, vacuum heat treat, better tooling, and finite element analysis-all of which EGW uses in production.EGW-specific Improvements to the original 1911 Extractor:We found that the extractor rides up the relief groove on the ammunition casing with each round fired: this dulls the hook from constantly banging the case, over time tension is lost, leading to a jammed case which adversely affects accuracy. If you experience a loss of tension or must continually retension your extractor, it is time to replace it.We fixed all 3 of these problems by reducing the distance from the bolt face to the extractor hook.We found that most hook designs are cut straight at a right angle. We machined ours at an acute angle so that there is more surface area for the hook to bite into the case. Right angles are a weak point on other extractors so we put radii on both sides of ours to increase strength. The hook is machined with a special cutter that leaves a nice clean radius in the inside corner where most extractors fail.We found that the back section is normally thin and we machined ours to have a fully solid back further increasing the strength. We checked slides from 5 manufactures during development and they were all different in the back radius where the extractor is blended. In machining, we left the rear face slightly longer allowing space so that a Gunsmith can custom blend the extractor to your slide for a perfect fit.Lastly our extractor is vacuum heat treated yielding great spring properties and the capability to maintain tension for 70,000+ rounds. We are unable to ship this part internationally.

No adjustments needed for my RIA 10mm. Just a bit of blending to match the back of the slide.

This extractor is a great replacment for 9mm 1911/2011s. This one replaced an old original on a 1990s built Springfield that has had a ton of rounds through it and is a back up gun now for IDPA and Steel Shoots. I probably could have tensioned the old one but for this price this one is a great deal. I also put on in a friends Prodigy. Been pistolsmithing 1911s since 1974 and this will be the go to extractor for these 3 calibers in 1911s and 2011s.

This the the standard all extractors should Be judged by, super heavy duty, the length, the shape of the claw. All contributions at making the part raise above all others.
