HD Extractor for 1911 – .45 ACP (Series 80, Blue)
Quick Check: Confirm Your Pistol. Fits: 1911 pistols chambered in .45 ACP (Series 80).Does NOT Fit: Pistols using Schwartz (Kimber-style) firing pin safety systems.Material: Heat-treated tool steel.Design: Heavy-duty extractor with optimized hook geometry.Made in: 100% USA.
The extractor is one of the most important components in a 1911. It controls how the cartridge case is pulled from the chamber and directly impacts extraction, ejection consistency, and overall reliability. When extractor tension is inconsistent or the hook geometry is incorrect, it can lead to failures to extract, erratic ejection, and stoppages.
The EGW HD extractor is engineered to correct these issues. Precision-machined from heat-treated tool steel and built with improved geometry, it provides stronger engagement on the case rim, maintains tension longer, and delivers consistent performance over extended round counts.

Why Upgrade Your 1911 Extractor?
If you are experiencing extraction issues, inconsistent ejection patterns, or loss of extractor tension, replacing the extractor is one of the most effective upgrades you can make to a 1911.
Stronger case engagement for reliable extraction
More consistent ejection pattern
Reduced need for frequent retensioning
Increased durability compared to factory components
EGW HD Extractor Design Features
The EGW HD extractor incorporates several key improvements over standard extractor designs.
Optimized hook angle for increased surface contact on the case rim
Reduced hook-to-breechface distance to minimize wear
Radiused internal corners to eliminate stress risers
Reinforced rear section for increased strength
These improvements help prevent the extractor from riding up the case relief groove during cycling, which is a common cause of hook wear and loss of tension over time.
Precision Fit & Tuning
This extractor is manufactured with additional material at the rear to allow proper fitting to your slide. Because 1911 slide dimensions vary between manufacturers, fitting and tensioning are required to achieve optimal performance.
A properly tuned extractor is essential for long-term reliability in any 1911 platform.
100% Made in the USA
Every EGW extractor is 100% made in the USA. From raw material to heat treatment and final machining, every step is completed domestically to ensure consistent quality, durability, and performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit all 1911 pistols?
This extractor is designed for Series 80 1911 pistols chambered in .45 ACP. It will not work with Schwartz-style firing pin safety systems.
Do I need to fit this extractor?
Yes. Extractors are a critical tuning component in a 1911. Proper fitting and tensioning are required for reliable function.
Why replace a factory extractor?
Factory extractors often lose tension or wear prematurely. A precision-machined extractor provides improved durability, better engagement, and more consistent reliability.

This is the first HD extractor I've fitted, and it took me some time. Getting it in and out of the tunnel was a lot harder after flexing the arm to get tension. There was a learning curve. If I do another, I'll know better what I need to do to make the fitting process go quicker. I like that the hook to breach face clearance is less than other extractors I've fitted.

Hight quality extractor. I used it in my colt defender and it works much better than the stock one.
