Our Practical 1911 Extractor 9 / 38 / 40 Series 70 Blue will not work with the Schwartz (Kimber) style safety. Installation Note for Springfield Prodigy Users When installing this extractor in a Springfield Prodigy, you must loosen the right-side cover plate screw before installation. Once the extractor is properly seated, tighten the screw back down to ensure secure fitment and proper function. The steel available to us today is of much higher quality than what was available in 1911 when the 1911 pistol was first produced. Improvements to the entire manufacturing process include better alloys, more controlled furnaces, vacuum heat treat, better tooling, and finite element analysis-all of which we use in production.EGW-specific Improvements to the original 1911 Extractor:We found that the extractor rides up the relief groove on the ammunition casing with each round fired: this dulls the hook from constantly banging the case, over time tension is lost, leading to a jammed case which adversely affects accuracy. If you experience a loss of tension or must continually retension your extractor, it is time to replace it.We fixed all 3 of these problems by reducing the distance from the bolt face to the extractor hook.We found that most hook designs are cut straight at a right angle. We machined ours at an acute angle so that there is more surface area for the hook to bite into the case. Right angles are a weak point on other extractors so we put radii on both sides of ours to increase strength. The hook is machined with a special cutter that leaves a nice clean radius in the inside corner where most extractors fail.Lastly our extractor is vacuum heat treated yielding great spring properties and the capability to maintain tension for 70,000+ rounds. We are unable to ship this part internationally. Did not work in the Girsan match x. Hole to small. Not your fault. But the internet recommended you. Keep this info. for your own. The parts were great as with all the parts I get from you. I put these extractors in my inventory.

I have an Auto Ordnance 1911 in 10 mm and your extractor didn't grab the case rim sufficiently - do you offer a reduced distance from extractor lip to the closest surface that the firing pin holder engages? - I could give you a measurement that I need.

Dropped right in a 5" Prodigy. Tuned it right up. Has function flawlessly for 500 rounds and counting.

As advertised, very easy to tune. Put it halfway in, bend with thumbs, check bend, reinstall. First try had perfect function and cases landing in a pile 5’ right. The ultimate range bag spare.

It’s a little hard to bend, but once you get it right it is tough enough to last a long time.

You guys did a great job! Shipping was fast and accurate! Unfortunately, I have not gotten the firearm yet. I ordered every part from multiple aftermarket manufacturers ( mostly EGW ) to replace every mim part in the gun along with bushings and springs in several weights! I’ll need to tune it and get back to you. I did order an extended mag release with a SS button as well. With some tuning and alterations it should be amazing! Feeling great about the build though! Thanks for reaching out and will get back to you ASAP!
