Rock Island CS (3.5" barrel) Guide Rod Kit 45ACP (22# Officer's Spring) Reviews

Read EGW Guns Reviews

The takedown hole in the guide rod allows for easy disassembly/reassembly.The head of the guide rod has smooth beveled edges to make for a seamless look. All kits are drop-in.This guide rod kit is made for the Rock Island Compact. You will need to fit the lugs on the top of the plug (shown in alternate image). This kit does not work in a Metro Arms Compact. This will not fit in a Springfield Prodigy 3.5"This kit uses a 1/4" diameter guide rod, flat wire ISMI spring, and our fully machined reverse plug. The spring that comes packaged with the kit is a 22lb, which works perfect for .45 ACP. We do have 16lb springs available for smaller calibers that we could swap in per customer request. In independent testing, ISMI spring have endured in excess of 100,000 compression cycles. We don’t recommend going that long between changes however. With an ISMI spring, practice routine maintenance and change it once a year. Installed on a RIA 1911 cs. Brand new gun. Failed to go into battery about half the time. Sent it to the factory for repair. Got it back and it still did it four times in seven magazines. Notes said they replaced the recoil spring with new 24# spring. Big improvement but wouldn’t think of carrying a gun like that. Installed EGW’s flat spring recoil guide rod kit. The gun has performed flawlessly since. Not a single failure. I really like it now. RIA should start installing these in their guns at the factory.

My EGW Rock Island Guide Rod was installed in an Auto Ordnance ZG51 Pit Bull upper on a Para Ordnance P14 lower. I had to file down the flats on the rear of the recoil spring plug to get it to fit properly but after I got it done it was good to go. I took the pistol out to the range and it did well. My pix show where I filed on the plug to get it to fit and the pistol fully assembled.
