3" 1911 Guide Rod FAQ
Why is a dual-spring system better for a 3" 1911?
The extremely short slide cycle of a 3" 1911 is very violent. A single spring often can't provide enough resistance at the end of its travel without being too strong at the beginning. A dual-spring system allows for a more progressive spring rate, providing a smoother initial impulse and then ramping up to effectively cushion the slide and prevent frame damage.
Do I need to be a gunsmith to install this kit?
No. This is a drop-in kit that does not require any permanent modification to your firearm. Installation is as simple as field-stripping your pistol. You will simply replace your existing guide rod and spring assembly with the new EGW kit.
