This flat wire recoil spring for 1911s fits officer's model guns with full length, 1/4" diameter guide rods. We use this spring in our Officer's Guide Rod Kits. The 22lb spring weight is perfect for use in .45ACP 1911s. ISMI Springs are typically made from silicone chrome instead of 150 year old music wire. Every ISMI spring is heat treated, shot peened & stress relieved to enhance durability, consistency and reliability.Our springs are made for us by ISMI. ISMI is a contractor of the U.S. government and produces springs used in machine guns with incredibly high cycling rates. Also, the creator of ISMI springs obtained his knowledge from extensive research in the development of springs used in Indy car racing. “This spring is made for the 1911 officers model. But does not fit the RIA 1911 CS officers/compact. Looks well made, unfortunately I was unable to use it”

“The inside diameter of the flat recoil spring did not fit over the two-piece guild rod form Wilson Combat in my Colt officier's model. The pistol wears out coventional recoil springs in aprox 500 rounds. Perhaps a doublle wire piano wire spring would work. Maybe a whole new recoil system is required. The recoils system is part of a Wilson Combat Stealth package build. I cannot fairly review the product because I could never accually use it.”
