The shelf on our EGW Higher Mag Catch is .020 higher, to hold the magazine higher in the frame. The button is extended .050" longer than the original 1911A1 factory button to ensure fast positive magazine release on the 1st try. Guns that have issues with nose dives will benefit from the higher mag placement (provided there is a small gap between the magazine and the frame in the front). The result is better feeding with 8 round 45 mags and hollow points. The higher mag catch is checkered for better grip. This part is NOT MIM or CAST. Our mag catches are NOT tapped for buttons. The button on our mag catch is standard GI spec.Mag Catch Spring and Mag Catch Lock are sold separately.

“This is a well made part and works to hold the mag up like advertised. The only issue I ran into was the push to release side didn't fit through my frame, but I am not sure if that is because the hole in my frame was out of spec or if EGW made it oversized for a gunsmith fit scenario. I grabbed a medium -fine stone and carefully kept removing material, a little and check it, etc. After stoning it to fit the hole in my frame I polished the stoned section and reblued it with a cold blue kit. In the end it works smooth and helps factory hollow points feed up the ramp better.”

“Did exactly what I needed! Mags are retained full up and tight in the well. Has eliminatetd FTF (ramp Impact) with FTX and HC reloads. That is with manual slide release and hand cycle of the slide. Weapon is Turk Clone and only has 7 rounds thru it and no problem wth hard ball/round nose. Looking forward to range time, and breaking in' Had to do a little stoning and oil honing to reduce excessive torque to rotate the cam lock.”

“Fit and finish is great. Installed very easily. Magazines are definitely seating tighter in my 1911. Haven't yet had a chance to fire it but with snap caps it seems to be cycling much better. I'm excited to take it to the range to try it!”
