HD 1911 Thumb Safety - Blued Carbon Steel This single side HD (heavy duty) thumb safety is the perfect upgrade for your 1911. This 1911 thumb safety is not a drop-in part and will require fitting. This part is for the left hand side of your 1911. Replace your stock 1911 thumb safety with our HD thumb safety. EGW is excited to be one of the few to offer a machined from solid steel thumb safety. We saw a need for a cleaner, more solid design as a result of consistent failures of inferior cast and MIM thumb safeties currently on the market. The only way to keep the safeties as straight as possible is to heat treat the steel and then machine it in the hardened condition. This thumb safety is serrated for better gripping capability. Our thumb safeties are machined in one of our twelve CNC machines.

A few strokes of a file and it fit perfectly into a SA TRP. Positive click on and off. This slightly wider safety fits my older hands much better

I’ve bought a few of these I really like them. I like all EGW 1911 parts. They just need to make a their Ridge Slide Stop in 45 and a mag catch for the Prodigy.

Bought Wilson combat, Nighthawk, & Atlas single sided safety’s for my Staccato P and none fit as well as this EGW. They were way too small and flunky feeling. None came close to color matching the DLC on my Staccato like this EGW. It fits flush on top of the grip and was easy to install. Absolutely buy it.

This is a very well made thumb safety. Only issue is that with old thin skin the lower back corner really did dig into the back inside of my thumb when shooting with it. I did bring it home and took the time to grind it to a more rounded shape and than smoothed and a quick polish and cold blueing on the surface and works great now.

Nice, ergonomic shape to easily flip safety on and off. Just the right width to access with average sized hands.

I picked this one to replace the OEM ambi on a pistol about a year ago and its by far my favorite thumb safety. I now have a second one in for install on another pistol, also replacing the OEM ambi which has broken/locked itself up.
