This is the fifth EGW mainspring housing I’ve bought. I have the EGW Bobtail Regrets mainspring housings on three of my “bob-tailed” Dan Wesson Commanders: the Guardian, the Commander Classic, and the Valor Commander. These three pistols now have PERFECT full size grips thanks to the elimination of their unwelcome bobtails, to me a very stupid so called “feature” which manages to ruin a 1911 grip by eliminating the bottom rear portion of the mainspring housing—the exact portion that you want to be there, to feel it digging against the fleshy part of your palm for a solid and confident grip on the pistol. The 25 LPI checkering is perfect. All EGW mainspring housings whether stainless steel or black carbon steel are highly recommended to replace the unsatisfactory versions commonly found on many 1911’s.

The old mainspring housing was designed to attach a lanyard, but it dug into the heel of my palm. This replacement is way better. Removing the old mainspring housing was super easy and then the sear spring twisted and a pin came partway out and things started falling out of my Sig TTT 1911, specifically the firing pin safety (a little duck head thing). But thanks to YouTube I got it all back together.
