The checkering on this mainspring housing helps get the weight in the right place and gives you good traction.Pins and springs do not come with this part. You can use the pins and springs from your original mainspring housing or purchase new parts from us.This mainspring housing makes a great replacement for plastic mainspring housings.This is our premium mainspring housing, designed and made by EGW. Fully machined from bar stock. This item will fit 1911 Government and Commander frames, it will not fit STI's or short grip frames.Our Arched Checkered Mainspring Housing is machined from carbon steel barstock.

“Only because I love you guys am I commenting on this item. For the first time in all of the items I'v ebought from you over the years I was not satisfied. The MSH did not fit in to my Springfield Mil-Spec 1911. On close inspection and use of layout die, I found the two rails that stand proud of the sides of the housing, did not have clean inside corners down their lengths. It was as if the part perhaps shifted in its fixture while machining the sides. An hour with a swiss file to clean up the inside edges, and it is now sliding in as it should. Just keep an eye out or perhaps check the setup or condition of the fixture (or hire a skilled Mechanical/Process Engineer like myself to do it. Working there as a retirement gig would be amazing!). Thanks for giving me the opportunity to comment.”

“I got the checkered arch mainspring housint to replace the flat one that came on my RIARock Ultra 10mm AUTO. The arched housing fits my hand better and helps with an instictive grip that doesn't want to shoot to the left. I wear size XL gloves by the way. The housing itself is very well made and comfortable to shoot with the 25lpi checkering being just aggressive enough to aid with recoil control. It installed easily with a tight fit no fitting required.”

“Been having a Colt Combat Commander since 1984, that oldest one has had a arched mainspring housing all along, 1911's just don't feel right to me with a flat housing, the arched & checkered make them feel right. EGW is one of the only manufactures of these housings, EGW makes a very good product which fits well, bought a few and going to buy a couple more very soon.”
