The checkering on this mainspring housing helps get the weight in the right place and gives you good traction.Pins and springs do not come with this part. You can use the pins and springs from your original mainspring housing or purchase new parts from us.This mainspring housing makes a great replacement for plastic mainspring housings.This is our premium mainspring housing, designed and made by EGW. Fully machined from bar stock. This item will fit 1911 Government and Commander frames, it will not fit STI's or short grip frames.Our Arched Checkered Mainspring Housing is machined from stainless steel barstock.

“I received three arched, checkered stainless steel mainspring housings for my full size 1911s in 9mm. The fit of these parts to my three Caspian frames is close enough to call custom...PERFECT FIT. The checkering is precise, clean, just the right texture and absolutely beautiful to look at. I have very little meat or bulk in my hands and I need the arched housing and the checkering to hold the gun securely and to control recoil. In the past, I've always had to file the pin hole on previous mainspring housings to get the pin through to the other side of the frame....I thought that was normal and typical...... NOT WITH THESE EGW MAINSPRING HOUSINGS...... A PERFECT FIT RIGHT OUT OF THE PACKAGE!!!! NO FITTING!!! Three different Caspian frames...three perfect fits....OUTSTANDING! If I ever build anymore 1911s, I will automatically buy EGW parts and save myself an enormous amount of custom fitting. I am now able to hold the gun with less effort. My trigger control has improved dramatically. My recoil control has improved more than I thought possible. The checkering grips my hand, but is not hard on my skin. I went from keeping most shots in the black at 25 yards, to shooting mostly tens and x's. Just by installing the arched mainspring housing. Sounds crazy, but it's true.”

“Top quality American made craftsmanship. Couldn't be happier. Tight tolerances and a tight prefect fit. Checkering on the back strap is deep and we'll defined. Highly recommend this for anyone who likes an arched mainspring housing. Really helped with more grip surface and no slipping of the hand with the recoil. Definitely more control and accuracy.”
