Installation & Overview
(Watch our guide on how to properly torque and install your EGW rail).
Modern Savage rifles are known for their accuracy, but the mix of screw sizes and receiver shapes can make finding the right mount confusing. We solved that. This EGW Picatinny Rail fits all "Round Back" Savage Short Actions and includes mounting hardware for both standard receivers (#6-48 screws) and heavy-duty magnum/target receivers (#8-40 screws). Machined from domestic 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum, this rail is lightweight and specifically contoured to the round top of the AccuTrigger-era receivers. The center channel reduces weight and allows you to see your iron sights on some models. The full-length cross slots give you complete freedom to position your scope rings for the perfect eye relief. Savage Round Back FAQ
What is a "Round Back" Savage?
Older Savages (pre-2003) had a flat top on the rear of the receiver ("Flat Back"). Newer models, especially those with the AccuTrigger, have a round top on both the front and rear. This rail is for the Round Back models.
Will this fit the Savage Axis?
No. The Savage Axis (and Edge) uses a completely different hole spacing. Please see our specific Savage Axis rails.

Rail arrived in excellent condition, with more than enough hardware to install. Looks really good, installed easily. Haven't mounted my scope yet but confident this will be a great fit for my rifle.

Fit and finish are superb. Price is great as well. Much money can be spent for another rail that does the same job

EGW's are only ones I use now, they have torx screws which are lots easier to torque and remove, they don't strip like a hex screw tends to do.

Not for the Savage 110 Tactical 6.5 Creedmoor. It was fine EXCEPT... evidently Savage enlarged the holes for their bases and the screws you sent were too small in diameter. The heads of the 20 moa base screws (which came with the rifle) were also too large for the 0 moa base you sent. So you had to retool another base to accept the larger diameter screws which you also sent to me with that base. I returned the original 0 moa base (which you picked up the freight for). All-in-all, a bit of a hassle for you and me, but under the circumstances, your service was good. I would recommend the base for that rifle only when EGW sends out the correct base with screw hole sizes for that particular rifle. I'm not sure why Savage and the aftermarket manufacturers can't coordinate those types of situations, but hopefully, you'll be aware of it in the future if someone makes the same order as I did. Thanks.
