Installation & Overview
(Watch our guide on how to properly torque and install your EGW rail).
Whether you are building a .338 Lapua Magnum for extreme long range or setting up a classic .30-06 for elk season, this EGW Picatinny Rail is the solid foundation you need. Designed for modern "Round Back" Savage Long Actions, it bridges the receiver to provide a rigid, one-piece mounting platform. We include mounting hardware for both standard receivers (#6-48 screws) and heavy-duty magnum/target receivers (#8-40 screws). Machined from domestic 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum, this rail is lightweight and specifically contoured to the round top of the AccuTrigger-era receivers. The center channel reduces weight and allows you to see your iron sights on some models. The full-length cross slots give you complete freedom to position your scope rings for the perfect eye relief. Savage Round Back FAQ
What is a "Round Back" Savage?
Older Savages (pre-2003) had a flat top on the rear of the receiver ("Flat Back"). Newer models, especially those with the AccuTrigger, have a round top on both the front and rear. This rail is for the Round Back models.
Will this fit the Savage 212 Slug Gun?
No. Although the Savage 212 is a long action, it has a specific ejection port and mounting requirement. Please use our specific Savage 212 Slug Gun mount.

I always liked the additional stability of a one-piece scope mount. My Savage Model 111 came with cheap no-name-brand two-piece Weaver-type mounts that continually worked loose even with Loc-Tite on the screws. I replaced those mounts with the EGW one-piece Picatinny rail mount and was so pleased with the product that I later bought and installed two more EGW rails, one for my Remington 700 SPS and one for my sporterized CZ24 large-ring 98 Mauser. All rifles mentioned are in caliber .30-06 Springfield. If I go up to a .300 Win Mag, I intend to get the EGW rail with the addition 20 MOA to better take advantage of the cartridge's long range potential.
