Installation & Overview
The EGW Ruger revolver red dot mount allows you to mount popular Docter footprint optics directly to compatible Ruger revolvers by replacing the factory rear sight. This mount provides a clean, low-profile optic mounting solution for Ruger Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, Redhawk, Super Wrangler, GP100, and GP100 Match Champion revolvers.
Compatible with optics like the Vortex Venom (open emitter), Vortex Viper, Burris FastFire series, and other Docter footprint red dots, this mount keeps the optic positioned lower than many Picatinny rail adapter systems for improved sight acquisition and a cleaner overall appearance.
Machined in the USA from high-strength 7075 aluminum and finished with a matte black hardcoat anodizing, this Ruger revolver optic mount is built for durability while keeping added weight to a minimum.
EGW red dot mounts are designed to install from left to right with the muzzle facing forward. The dovetail features a progressive taper to allow easier installation while still maintaining a secure fit.
Due to manufacturing tolerances between firearms, minor fitting may be required.

I installed on a Ruger Blackhawk .45 LC with 5" barrel. Burris Fastfire bottomed out in down position and was still shooting 36" high at 25 yards. I had to install a tapered shim to raise the front of the red dot .060", this gave back about 1/2 turn on elevation adjustment and able to zero at 25 yards. The tapered shims I had were actually designed to raise the rear, so I had to mill new holes in the shim, so I could reverse it. Other than that, it worked OK.

Sorry to hear that you ran into issues with our mounts. We see this from time to time where the top of the gun, adapter, and red dot do not want to play well with each other You had the right idea of using a shim between the dot and the adapter. There are reversible 1 degree shims on the market (cheap on Amazon) that will get you back on target.

Quick ship. Would be nice if a chamfer was on the end that goes in the sight cutout. My River had a slight taper and large radius so it was a tight fit. Needed the chamfer
