We had 1 night (of a 4-day trip) to ourselves and without our kids, in San Francisco. We spent it with our tour guide and a few other Segway newbies, and we're so glad we did! I highly recommend the night tour. We did it because it was what worked for our schedule, but the handy thing is that the neighborhood we went to, little did I realize until that day, was really high traffic during the day. This is the BEST way to get to marvel at the architecture and the community without dealing with all that street and foot traffic. The tour was very comfortable, and I felt safe at all times, as we wore lights on both our helmets and Segways to alert drivers of our presence. The training made me feel very confident in using a Segway properly. The tour was informative, but in no way felt overly educational and static. It was more conversational, but afterwards I remembered a lot of details and recalled just how much I really did learn about San Fran on the tour. The tour guide, Kyle, was great. Really great driver. Communicator. And dealing with annoying people who booked this tour as well. There were a pair that had absolutely no idea what the rules of the road were, or common courtesy in allowing others to speak, and he dealt with them pretty fabulously. He was nice to them, but also to the point and minimized their risk to both themselves and the rest of the group.

I had my 16 year old nephew with me. The bus tour looked like something he'd hate, so I needed to find another way for us to explore San Francisco with a guide who'd highlight the history and sites of the city. The night tour via Segway was perfect -- and we had an excellent guide. We should have done this our first night in town.

It really is the best way to see a city. Our tour guide was very good, made sure we knew where we were and what we were seeing the whole time.
