“My son has tried various reading apps (Lexia, Raz Kids) and they were all missing something. None of the other apps offered physical books! Kids learn with all of their senses. Having a tangible book is necessary for learning. Tanner is able to read books without the need for a parent to help him sound out words. And he is so motived by the monthly incentives. This is a great tool to help kids with reading!”

“My son has always loved being read to, but was not a fan of reading himself. When he started first grade, he was a little behind in his reading abilities and had very little motivation to read with us and work on them. With Ello, he read all 5 books in one morning and was so excited to earn stars and pick a prize. Ello does have a hard time hearing at times, but it’s not so bad to make me not use the service and he’s just learned to grab his iPad and yell it into it. I love that he gets to have a physical book too; so many apps are all digital and it’s so important for young children to still understand characteristics of physical books and allowing him to turn the page and use his finger to track his reading will transfer better into the classroom then just reading on a device. I’m thrilled with this service. I do wish it were a little less expensive, especially if you have no intention of keeping the books but merely “checking them out” Iike at the library. I feel like the price could be lowered as it is hefty for a monthly subscription when the app has all digital for 4.99…”

“Great idea to combine the tablet with paper reading. Wish there was an option to do more than once a month and it does glitch sometimes so could use a bit of improvement and the little prizes could be better but otherwise my 6 year old loves this and asks to read with ello!”
