“My Rocky is about 10 years old. I figured new burrs couldn't hurt. The relatively low price sealed the deal. I did take notice of the warning and ordered replacement screws, too. Good thing.
The new and old burrs looked the same, but what a difference when running finger lightly over the faces: smooth vs sharp. The old burrs were really dull. It took about an hour to do the swap. Three screws came out OK, one screw came out with a mangled head, and I had to carefully drill the heads off of the remaining two. That's what took the most time.
The result is a better grind, more crema, and a different sounding -- quieter -- running grinder. I'll not wait 10 years next time.”
“It's been too long since I bought my Rancilio Rocky and done anything about replacing the burrs. I can't believe what I missed from years ago when I was able to grind to a fineness needed for my espresso machine.
