It's time for my ebike to take a back seat. I had no intentions on ever owning an electric unicycle. For the past couple of years I have been riding a very nice and expensive $10,000 ebike from specialized. For the past few months though it has been at the dealer for a motor issue. I like not having to rely on a car and so I started getting impatient and looking for alternative means of transportation while my bike was being fixed. I tried a couple of scooters, but they just didn't work for me. Too unstable, not enough range, and bulky. Ultimately, and really by accident, I found an ad for a used V5 for cheap and thought what the heck, I might as well give it a try. I learned how to ride it, and it became second nature really quickly, and so I started to set my sights on something with more power and range. Ultimately I decided on a v14. I bought this through ewheels because they had a really good website, and they made it easy for me to feel confident about what I was buying. I got the wheel 2 days later, unboxed it, and thought immediately, what the heck did I just do? It was huge and intimidating and heavy and for 2 days I literally just stared at it thinking I am never going to ride this. It is beyond my capability. I started practicing by balancing on it while holding on to something else and just trying to feel the weight under me. It was terrifying to let go of the wall, but I did finally. Over and over again I would try to ride and then the wheel would fall toward one side or another and just take me on a journey that I didn't want to go on. I sent an email to e wheels asking if anything bad could happen by taking two battery packs off to lighten the wheel and make learning to ride it easier. Unlike most companies, I got an almost immediate reply with a stern message of no, do not do this, and a positive message of keep practicing and you will get this. I sent a couple of other emails over the next few weeks with other various questions and got the same detailed attention and quick replies. I started to look around for lighter, more beginner friendly unicycles, both new and used, because I just really felt like this was never going to work for me. But I did keep practicing. Unbelievably, it's been just over a month now, and I'm comfortable enough now to ride it everywhere and and am even using it on my commute to work. I started off by setting the speed limit to 20 miles per hour, but have gotten so comfortable so quickly that it's now set for 30, and I will probably be increasing it even more sooner than later I believe. I'm so happy now that I didn't settle for a more beginner friendly wheel because I would've been hitting the speed limits already, and would have been wanting more and feeling limited by my choice. This wheel has become very easy to control, and I look forward every day to riding and learning. My reasons for wanting this wheel is because it fits the range of what I would have expected to ride per day, which is about fifty miles total, and it has a pretty good top speed, but nothing too crazy. It is much more compact than my ebike, and so I can easily take it onto a bus or the metro train. The suspension soaks up potholes and bad roads as if they are smooth and new. Los Angeles streets are pretty beat up for the most part typically. This same capability will allow me to take fire roads and light off roading tracks such as the fullerton loop and other places that I have rode with my e- bike, though most of my time on this wheel will be for commuting. This V14 adventure feels strong and well built. It goes faster than my e-bike, and it is more nimble and can handle rougher terrain. In learning, I have tumbled this wheel more times than there are miles on it I believe. Except for a small piece of the front fairing breaking off, which is really just cosmetic and not a worry, there hasn't been any damage of note to the wheel in any way. It has went from being intimidating and terrifying to becoming nimble and an extension of my body. I'm so appreciative of the e wheels team, their excellent website, their amazing customer service, and the love and support that they have given me as their customer. Even when I get my e-bike back, this will be my main form of transportation, except for when I need to haul things like groceries. It's amazing that something this capable can be had so cheaply.

V14 is the best wheel I own so far. It will be perfect if the manufacturer did the following: 1. Including manual how to assembly parking bracket. 2. Manual how to adjust suspension. 3. In the manual how to replace suspension, they should provide torque spec for each screws. This is very important for safety of rider. 4. Manual should provide more detail about each riding mode and how pedal angle affect riding experiment.

Hi Tuan, thanks for the feedback, admittedly the EUC industry has been lacking in the user manuals/documentation department for some time now. We'll keep pushing manufacturers to improve on this. Glad you're enjoying the wheel though, stay safe and enjoy the ride!

This is my first euc and so far it's amazing. I have about 600 miles on it. If I knew how much I'd love riding euc's I would have gotten something that could go a little faster and farther since I have a 20 mile commute into town, but this thing will go straight up any hill I've tried it on, unless it's really deep sand or mud. It's nimble, easy to control, seems to have great acceleration and breaking, and handles the drops and bails that happen even you're learning to ride. I'm 6' 195 lbs. The v14 can go about 43-38mph for 15 miles and then the speed tapers off as the battery drops. I took a 30 mile ride riding into the beeps most of the way at 50° f or less, and there was 25% battery left and the top speed dropped linearly to mid 20s mph. Super fun wheel. I ride almost every day. I'll probably save up for the ET Max for commuting and cruising the streets and use the v14 for everything else.

TLDR; this is the best 16" you can buy currently. Almost 500 miles on mine. I upgraded from V11, and the added weight and width takes a few hours to get used to. But once you do it feels amazing and inspires more confidence. I purchased 50s version with knobby and the lighter suspension spring (500lb). If you're riding weight is under 170-180lbs I would HIGHLY recommend the lighter spring if you're not doing very large drops or jumps. I have done smaller drops and jumps (1-2 ft of air) and haven't noticed it bottom out. This thing is an absolute climbing BEAST. Torque is absolutely amazing. So far I only have 1 complaint, and that is the seat. It completely blocks tail light, and is SUPER slippery. I would sit down and immediately slide forward, as it's tilted forward. I added some foam to increase grip to my butt and it works well now. Also seat covers charge ports so you need to remove to charge. I've seen a few other custom seats options but they're all $200+ currently. Still highly recommend this wheel if you want a 16" I would rate 4-4.5 stars for all wheels, and 5 stars for 16" wheels.

Hi Andrew, thanks for your review! Good feedback on the seat, that's been a common report for a while now with these PU foam seats, nice solution to add some grip back. Hopefully the V14 will carry you for many miles to come, stay safe and happy riding :)

This is the first wheel i have purchased, Rode a v12 for a bit that a buddy had to learn then purchased my own. Overall i am in love with the wheel and rides so much smoother with suspension then the v12. My knees are definitely thanking me for the upgrade. The only thing i would say for inmotion is there app is AMAZING with things it does and shows but some of the settings are a bit confusing and would love a bit more explanation right on the app vs having to go find them online. overall though amazing wheel.

Just unboxed and rode my new EUC today, and it's a massive step up from my previous wheel, the 16X. While I love my 16X, this new wheel is on another level. It's taking some getting used to, especially with the weight, pedal height, and thickness differences, but after 5 miles, I'm starting to gain confidence. Jason at eWheels helped me choose between the V14, Extreme, and Patton, and I ultimately went with this one due to living near mountain bike trails, dealing with rainy weather in WA, and appreciating the analytics from the app. Plus, it just looks badass! Excited for more rides once the weather clears up!"
