“I’m happy I picked the Lynx for my first wheel!
I was determined to learned so it didn’t take me no time at all! Coming from a onewheel GT I love the speed!”
“TL; DR: The Leaperkim Lynx is an excellent wheel, if I were buying a new EUC now I would still buy a Lynx, and I would still buy from eWheels. No doubt.
I started riding EUC almost exactly a year ago, starting with an Inmotion V11 and V5. (I used the V5 to learn basic technique and progressed quickly to the V11 after only a few miles.) Over last summer I rode the V11 all over the place, upgrading my gear and getting more confident on both mixed-traffic situations and off-road. After 500 miles I felt I was going to outgrow it; I wanted more off-road capability and ability to go over 30 mph (50km/h).
An intense amount of research ensued, using [influencer] review videos, personal accounts on forums, manufacturer literature, etc., I finally settled on either the Kingsong S22 Pro, Begode Blitz, Veteran Lynx or the (not yet out at the time) Begode X-Way. I loved the Lynx but was choking on the price tag -- at $4k it was significantly more than I paid for my V11, and more than the competitor options I listed above. But Leaperkim appeared to have the best reputation for build quality and reliability which mattered a lot for me. Then a friend let me try his Veteran Sherman -- and I was sold on Leaperkim. Ordered the Lynx from eWheels about a week later.
eWheels shipped very promptly; the wheel and accessories arrived on time and no damage (despite attempts by FedEx to do otherwise). Out of the box it was set at standard pedal height (it came with pedal hangers which to this day I have still never tried), a street tire and came with a set ot Beidou pads. By this time I had almost 900 miles on the V11, yet I thought there would be some transition time to get used to the heavier, taller Lynx. There was practically none! I had a few questions regarding config and accessories for the Lynx, eWheels was always there with quick and helpful responses. eWheels has my business for any wheel in the future.
At 100 miles I switched to a TNT knobby tire for winter riding I bought from eWheels. It's now 6 months later, I have almost 1000 miles (1600km) on the Lynx. The knobby tire is still on my Lynx, it works great for street and I like the extra traction in scree, sand, etc. My riding so far is probably about 70% street and 30% off-road. I weigh about 185 lbs (84kg) with full gear. The 66 lb suspension feels just perfect for me. (eWheels also helped me decide on this suspension rating pre-sale, and they were spot-on with their recommendations.) If I ride at a slow pace (smell-the-roses kind of day) I think I could get 80+ miles on one charge. Most I've done so far is 43 miles (69 km) on hilly, off-road terrain and still had 33% battery remaining. I could probably do better on the street tire but I feel there are more advantages for the knobby over the street in all conditions, so I'm going to stay knobby.
Lynx is a fantastic wheel that meets my needs now and as I continue to progress in the sport. I chose Lynx over Sherman-L only because I wanted a wheel more suitable for jumps and stunts. Yet, it is an excellent commuter wheel and very comfortable for long rides. I tell folks who ask me: "it's a wheel that's not 100% perfect in any one category, but it is the best wheel I've found that does well in all categories."”
“Coming from a V13, the lynx feels very nimble, and it does not feel like an 88lbs wheel. Feels lighter. Great suspension. Just leave it alone and it’s good for everything. Street, stairs, off road. Not as stable as the v13 at speed, but I got used to it now. Love it!!”
“The Lynx was my first wheel, and I learned how to ride pit! Top speed 15mph, but I’ve ridden parking lots, an alley and a 5 level garage. Ewheels was super fast & shipped me the wheel in four days. I hope to go faster and get more proficient in the weeks to come.”
“Amazing wheel. HUGE difference from my mid level Kingsong 18L. This truly completes the "last mile" gap between a car/public transit and walking. Once you get the hang of riding this 80+lb monster you feel comfortable that you can ride any commute in any conditions, distance and charge permitting. Suspension makes a huge difference. You still have to be aware when riding but the wheel itself makes up any shortcomings in that area.”
“So amazing! I'm new to this at 43 years old. I had a segway unicycle and the Lynx is the way to go! It's taking me a bit and lots of youtube videos to learn but I'm coming along! I like that you can keep moving the speed limiter up as I progress.
Just a hint if it helps anyone: get the lowering pedals kit and power pads!!! Worth it!! I bought the seat but there isn't a chance I'm confident enough for that yet!”
