“Ordered a pair of Red Wing Blacksmith in black prairie leather and paid £289 for it. I didn’t notice it at first but I filmed the unboxing of the boots. After re-watching the clip, I’ve noticed that the right boot already has creasing on the toe box which could mean that it’s already been used before. The personal quality control note from the boot maker (Red Wings are handcrafted for those who don’t know) is missing. The strong leather smell after opening the box isn’t there (I got that from my Iron Rangers from Tower London). The laces are half way done (a pair of brand new ones come undone and are only laced in the first eyelets). I did email Fat Buddha about it and they were pretty quick with their reply. I could of course return the item, they said. But my point is, if this was a returned pair, the quality should still be acceptable. Visible creasing on the toe box doesn’t qualify as acceptable to me specially if I’m paying £289 for it. I did not return the product because I’ve already worn them outdoors since then. A good price drop or discount if it’s not brand new would be reasonable. Worn, used and returned and still at a full price of £289 isn’t. I’ll be looking elsewhere for my next pair.”
