New Bad Elf GPS receiver for Lightning connector on newer iPod/iPhone/iPad. The BE-GPS-1008 is the first third party plug-in Lightning Connector accessory approved by Apple. We have upgraded the 1008 from the original BE-GPS-1000 to handle GLONASS and GPS satellites, and improved the case to allow the LED to be seen in bright sunlight as well as in the dark of night. We also added a little more style to the design. Because it uses Apple's new Lightning Connector, it can plug into the iPad either way. And because the cable socket is on the side, users can direct the sync/charge cable to either side of the iPad/iPod touch. Good value and worked well with Navmii whilst biking in Europe, would be better with other apps eg Google maps, or even sailing app Navionics would be very useful. (Navmii works on a per country basis and not route planning across/between countries, caused bit of confusion at first). Did not like having another cable to have to charge the iPhone/iPad through the Receiver, why not just use the lightning connector/USB lead I have anyway for the iPhone/iPad instead of having have yet another charging cable. Of course i'm not sure of the cost or Apple's position on using the female part of the L connector. Otherwise worked well, as well and as fast as the GPS on the iPhone, I was using both a non GPS iPad and a GPS enabled iPhone so comparison was easy

Worked as advertised. Enabled my WiFi iPad Mini to work with iSailor and other geo apps. Can't compare with other devices, however. Would be good if it came with a short extension cable.

I bought this to work with my iPad Air and Nav Pro software. The iPad is strapped to my knee. The Bad Elf GPS Receiver performs excellently.

Not a bad piece of kit. Takes a little longer to establish its position than I would like, but once it has it, it holds it. I'm using it with an iPad and SkyDemon and works perfect for my needs.
