2019 WideWheel Dual 500W motor - 13.2Ah battery Reviews

4.6 Rating 462 Reviews
Purchased for my teenage daughter to go into town for her job. It has handled the trip extremely well and she has had no problems with the hills. It is still light enough that I can put it in my car when I pick her up in the evenings.

I bought the dual motor at the preorder price so I got a major deal. I researched a lot of scooters and this one seemed to be the best value. Where I live there are some steep hills but this scooter is able to go up with no issue. Everyone's been complementing me since there aren't many scooters in my area. The only thing I had an issue with is that since the wheels are made of aluminium, the wheels are prone to damage so you have to be real careful. Thankfully Fluid Free Rides customer support is awesome and helped me fix this issue. If your on the fence, just buy it trust me. Once you get on it you realize how worth it it was

The short version of this review is that this is an amazing scooter and if you are considering something this should be your top choice. If you are still reading, two things I would call out are: 1. it climbs the steepest hills in San Francisco. I literally tested this on some of the steepest streets in the city and it still climbs them with ease. I am 180 lbs and it just did its thing and got to the top. 2. The customer service from the team is amazing. My scooter had gotten a little shaken during shipment so the disc was touching the brake pad all the time. They were immediate in responding to my questions and sent me video instructions on how to realign the brake pads and solve the issue. What I learnt is that the scooter is super easy to maintain even for someone like me who has no prior experience whatsoever and that the team has great service! Very much recommend the widewheel! :)

I have the dual motor. As people have said it is powerful. That said, the power is not as smooth as I would prefer with the throttle motor interface leaving something to be desired especially at slow speeds. The suspension is nice to smooth out the road but anything other than imperfections and you will want to slow down as it can be jarring. My final and only real desire is a middle speed. The wide wheel comes set at something like 15 mph. One can unlock this and it will go 25mph. Well, my issue is 15 feels to slow yet 25 can be slightly uncomfortable and since throttle integration is less than ideal it's hard to keep it steady in between these speeds. So it seems it's either o-15 or 0-25. Wishing they could program in a middle ground at 20mph. Other than that the scooter seems to perform as advertised.

I wouldn't work with anyone other than fluid freeride for electric scooters. They've been incredible communicators, put the concerns of their customers first, and are honest. I've had my Wide Wheel for a little over a week and so far I'm quite impressed. I've set up my scooter to run at the top speed (25mph) and with that I run it to and from work everyday, a total commute of 4 miles, and the battery will last me about 3 days (seems to average 11-13 miles before a recharge). I could take it a bit further before a recharge, but as the battery voltage drops so does the top speed and I prefer to have a quicker ride. The suspension handles imperfections in the road well, but anything reasonably big (potholes, railroad tracks, low set manhole covers) can be a bit jarring. Build quality seems very good and well thought out, however, the headlight doesn't shed much light onto the road and I needed to add a bicycle light to ride at night. Some people have complained about not having an LCD screen, but I don't find myself missing it. For me I'm not switching between modes and I don't care to track my speed, so other than not being able to see battery percentage I'm happy with the setup. Even without knowing the exact battery percentage I can estimate it with the voltage meter and that works well enough. Overall, I'm really pleased with the Wide Wheel and I'd buy it all over again!

First off, FluidFreeRide is a great distributer and I have nothing but good things to say about them. The staff are accessible, friendly, and responsive. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another product from this team. The scooter is powerful and has good build quality. The lack of app integration is a bummer but I'm glad mechanical quality wasn't sacrificed to squeeze app integration in; it has all you need in a quality functional scooter build. The biggest complaint for me is the throttle response; it's very sensitive and it seems like the effective throttle range is about the first 20% of the total throttle sweep range. I wonder if the single motor model may feel more drivable in this regard. Since these dual motors are fully tapped out in the first 20% of the throttle sweep, it is really hard to dial in smooth operator-ness. Imagine a Tesla Model S P100D in ludicrous mode fully controlled by 20% of the pedal sweep... it can feel daunting especially on wet or otherwise slick surfaces. My fiance drives in ECO mode mostly which helps smooth out throttle response a bit and having the dual motors means hill climbing would not ever be an issue. With more refined throttle response, this scooter would be perfection.

The dual motor wide wheel is amazing! The speed and stability make it stand out against the scooters used by the ride sharing companies. The full suspension definitely stands out as well. Its size, when handlebars are folded down, is on par with the other scooters. The only slight downside is the weight of the scooter. At 50 or so lbs it can become tiresome to carry after some time. A shoulder strap to assist in carrying or a handle to facilitate towing would be extremely beneficial to improve this. All in all, this is a fun, well-built scooter! I would buy it again if I had to!
