“I've tried Lime, GoTrax and Mosquito Light, and for me the Wide Wheel stands above the others, particularly in quality of ride.
MUCH smoother ride, greater stability, I suspect less risk of flawed pavement putting me on my nose. Faster than the others too. At around 190 lbs. plus backpack the extra torque really helps (my one commute w/the Mosquito Light I had to kick it the last few blocks).
Better looking than the others too, IMO. W/the exception of the Mosquito Light, I've so far wondered if visual design of most scooters was done by somebody who drinks on the job. Not so the Wide Wheel.
I think the most hurtful feature is the absurd lack of a computer. The "Console" is just four LEDs, and the single button interface is tiring and relatively unintuitive (I must give credit to Mercane for publishing a manual that is not so ridiculously underworked and/or badly translated as their competitors, but it could still use some serious work—this is where Peter at fluidfreeride.com has stepped up very nicely). No speedo, odo, clock; no extras.
The folding method is pointlessly clumsy. You need to turn a knob maybe 8-10 rotations to unscrew it to fold the scooter, often mucking around with "Oops, not far enough, turn it some more..." and then screw it in again for the tiller to remain in place folded down. Dumb. A simple lever system as used by competitors would work better, IMO.
Mercane lists the weight at 37.9 lbs., but I suspect it's more like 41 (my bathroom scale puts it at 42).
I suspect Mercane will make substantial improvements in the near future, they are, after all, off to a very good start, but for now the Wide Wheel is a bit primitive.
1. Computer, please.
2. Fix folding mechanism to something 21st century.
3. A sturdier kickstand, please, and take a moment to *tighten the screws* for it at the factory.”
“I live in a Florida beach town and this is a great way to buzz around town on a sunny day. I'm so impressed with the comfort and drivability of my wide wheel. This thing is awesome.”
“Feels & looks solidly built. Very quiet, simple operation with unbelievable torque pull off the line. We have two of the dual motor models with the wide wheel setup. Out of the box the second scooter pulled incredibly well after a very simple setup and initial charge. Unfortunately, the performance from the factory on the first scooter was not what was promised in the description. With a few emails back & forth to Peter the problem was resolved with some control inputs and now are having fun with trouble free operation since. As a matter of fact the first one was so good, we ordered a second. Not sure which is more impressive, the design of these beauties or the customer service. It was prompt and courteous.
We used to own a souped up Go-Ped, with a 2 stroke engine. It was quick but super noisy and stinky, also needed constant fiddling to keep it running right. These electric Wide Wheels are every bit as fast and require no maintenance or attention just charge and go. The kids are hatching Pokemon GO eggs at an incredible rate HAHA. WIDE WHEEL MERCANE FTW!
Ask Peter for the video on how to enter Sport mode, Its awesome.”
“This is quite frankly the best scooter I've owned and I have tried several scooters already ranging from 160w-1000w motors. For me being a bigger fellow the dual motors on this scooter are just phenomenal! Those other dinky rent scooter have nothing on this one. It can travel fast and far. So far tested in on flat road ground 8 miles and still performed well with plenty of battery. In the mode where the speed limiter is disabled though best be careful. If you aren't a season rider it can scare you, take off is instant and fast best keep both your feet on it. The only thing I wish (since I regularly commute with this scooter) is a brighter front light and a bigger backlight. I did install an additional light on the (front) side for better visibility though it doesn't allow handle to fold down :( Aside from that A plus on everything. Quick note to everyone else the dual motor scooter weighs about 45ish pounds, not a problem for me but maybe keep that in mind before purchase.”
“What a treat!! Finally I have found the scooter that fits my weight and height ( 215lbs / 6'2). Solid structure and quality components on this bad boy. Its wide wheels brings extra comfort and a smooth ride. Great support from the Fluid team with information and technical parts. The led menu display is not a big deal to read and operate. Manual that comes with the scooter, is the perfect assistant in controlling and using it for the first time. Happy ride everyone!”
“This widewheel scooter is great! Its able to go up hills smoothly and its fast! I have only ridden for a couple of days so we will see if it holds up but for now its great!”
“This scooter looks so sick, and it's every bit as powerful as it looks. I've got lots of kids and we ride scooters together... and I didn't want to be frustrated with lack of power. This was just the trick. This is Batman's scooter. But if he's out of town rock that think all over town.”
