The Burn-E 2 has proven to be bullet proof in most every way but I have to say this particular part as it comes OEM is just waiting to break. This piece is made out of plastic from the factory where virtually every other component is made tough and able to withstand just about anything. I carry mine in my Jeep folded up and due to the width of the handlebars its easy to put weird forces on this piece when it is in the folded position. They replaced this piece under warranty as mine broke while i was transporting the scooter. This piece is made out of machined aluminum and I believe will las for the life of the scooter. Easy to install by simply removing the 2 retaining bolts and the one bolt that holds this piece to the lower assembly. I didn't even take the scooter out of the Jeep to install it. Very easy. If you haven't broken yours yet and its out of warranty I highly recommend ordering one and replacing it before it breaks. Sometimes the plastic one can get stuck up in the assembly and you have to replace the column as well which is a lot more expensive. Do this now and you can forget about it and just enjoy this fantastic scooter.

While Fluid Free Ride replaced my broken Folding Latch V2 without delay, and their service is fantastic, the NAMI Burn E has some poor material choices (i.e., the steer tube bolt is aluminum (black), the shock pins seem to be low-grade stainless steel and strip easily if you need to remove the shock, and the latch V2 is made of plastic. These are structural components. I recommend replacing them with available upgrades parts ASAP. Most important, the steer tube bolt is now available in steel (Silver), and the Latch pin is now available in aluminum. As for the Latch V2, a slight sideways torch on the handlebars in the folded-down position can snap the hard plastic pin. Nami Electric does make an aluminum version but you'll have to order directly from them in China (Micheal Sha is very responsive). I will probably end up ordering it directly from them. I already bought the steer tube upgrade for USD $190.00.
