“It seems there isn’t power at times. The engine at full power when cutting Boggs way down unless I’m barely moving the cutting head. Once I let go of throttle control engine kills”
“The overall saw quality is great, with minimal areas of improvement. So long as you keep your blade clear or saw dust, and depending on the wood species, the blade has no problem running all day without swap out/sharpening.
We did the trailer option too, which is extremely helpful for maneuverability in a remote area.
The overall build took a few days, working a few hours per day. Lifting the head unit certainly should be done with minimum 2 people. We had high density foam blocks to lever up to the needed height, but becareful!
As for the operation of the machine, the first draw back is the cooling line. The valve is simply a off and on valve, so don't open it all the way, rather partly to have a slow drip so you do not gum up the blade and housing. Next, the housing itself does collect lots of sawdust if wet, so be mindful of that. Additionally, the safety switches for the housing were faulty, resulting in engine starting problems. Frontier was quick to provide feedback and a replacement, unfortunately, I am concerned that a switch replacement will lead to another failure, meaning unplugging the safety switched from the engine. The last issue I have is the length of the track, its just shy of producing a 12 ft length board, which I feel would be the most common length board to make, meaning the extension, or muscling, or a jig to get that extra foot of board. Others may find no issues with that, but personally, being able to produce 12 ft out of the box would have been a great feature to have and to seperate itself from the competition.
Another thing to keep in mind, if doing shorter logs, around 6ft, you may want to buy an additional bunk so the log can straddle 2-3 bunks and be more stable.
Overall though, the saw cuts well, consistent width cutting and most importantly lots of FUN! Looking forward to projects to be made from using our own lumber.”
“Ibought it and asked for a delivery in the new year but they sent it right away. I refused delivery and they shipped it all over and when my delivery window came it arrived with trash, food and drinks dumped into the open corner. Sugar sticky and trash ran over it. I opened and cleaned best I could and did not want to deal with all this extra. I was so mad I just left it there in a building. No one there cared about what happened nd it was their fault for shipping when I was leaving for Flordia.”
“Bought the mill and assembled 7 months ago. I have used it a ton. In general the mill runs and preforms as I expected. However, The assembly process was a nightmare and the directions were better off not being included. Some of the parts such as the tow kit didn’t fit correctly. You need to own tools and be handy to assemble which I am sure most of the people interested probably are. All that being said I would buy again, directions just need improvements. I should also note that the staff and customer service is excellent and willing to help along the way.”
“the assembly instructions are not the best, i had to do multable adjustments to make it cut close to straight, the brake is very cheap and unreliable, a possitive lock would be better, if you dont adjust it it will creap during a cut.the saftey system failed after two months of use, (13 logs milled). would i buy another one, No!”
