The DHY8000SELR is the long running version of the DHY8000SE, with a large 25L fuel tank which boosts the maximum running time of this standby diesel generator up to 25 hours.

Powered by a 4-stroke, air-cooled D452 Hyundai 3000rpm diesel engine, the DHY8000SELR has a maximum output of 5.8kW. It features the same AVR alternator which produces clean energy. Although it won’t be able to run everything it allows more essential home items to continue running in the event of a power cut when the National Grid fails.

The DHY8000SELR is ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) compatible and can be connected to an ATS system for maximum convenience. When the ATS module detects a loss of power from the mains supply it simply powers your generator up automatically, then shuts it off when it detects power returning from the mains. This is also an electric start diesel generator, with a simple turn of the key being all that’s required to start or stop the machine when controlled manually.

The DHY8000SELR is part of the Hyundai silent range so is a quiet generator and comes with a sound attenuated canopy to reduce overall noise levels making it suitable for domestic or low noise areas. The DHY8000SELR is also economical to run, using roughly 1L of diesel every hour.

“Overall pleased with the product works well for our needs, the only negative and moreso for the attention of manufacturers is the inside of door handle vibrating against the rubber fuel line left a rubbing wear dent on fuel line with constant use would leave a hole or split in nearer future . We have actually used a protective hose pipe tubing covering which will still rub but not cause damage to fuel line .”

“This diesel generator (3000 RPM) is solidly built! Ours came already tested, fitter with filters, and filled with oil. That was a nice surprise so the supplies I bought for the purpose can go to the first oil change at 20 hours. The unit IS heavy but not impossible to move by yourself with some care. The wheels don't swivel, so you'll have to lift one end if you want to turn. Definitely recommend you have a strong helper to move it from the shipping pallet and unbox. The unit is billed as quiet, but at 96 db that's relative. Relative to a jackhammer perhaps. They say at 7 meters it's comparable to a riding lawnmower. Probably not far off if you have a large ride-on. The kit comes with a bag of parts build your own plugs. You have a caravan-style plug to connect to 230v, and a couple for building 120v plugs, one at 16 amps and one at 32 amps. You'll find one socket for each standard on the front of your generator. I tested my 120v/15-amp table saw (an older Bosch 10-inch/250mm work site model) on the 16 amp output. The diesel generator never sounded like the engine was ever under load, though I did manage to pop the 16 amp breaker once when I cut a particularly thick piece of wood. Our contact at Generators Direct, Sam, was so helpful with questions when I set it up! Ask about the trick for changing the oil without pouring it all through the unit. The drain plug is at the very bottom of the engine, of course, so it's right above the bottom of the steel case. No space for popping a drain pan in there. Sam's the best - and he gave us the best price available, too!”
