I have owned it since March 2015.
Firstly this is a Sports and Wildlife Lens.
I shoot an array of events, from Mud Run Obstacle races, multiple Horse events, Ball sports, Surf festivals, but my absolute favourite use is for Wildlife. I now spend months in the Top End of Australia each year in isolated places and this lens is my standard fare.
I usually couple it with a 1Dx and works equally as well with a 5DIII, but not as fast in the frame rate.
It is absolutely sharp, corner to corner, and 99% of shots are keepers.
The built in 1.4 Extender is the cream on the cake.
For most events it is on a Monopod or for events like surfing, on a tripod with a Gimbal head.
A week end of shooting Obstacle Course racing normally see's around 5000 images taken, so theres no hand holding it, stability is paramount.
Durability - From shooting in rain, very muddy events to being in a boat all day on a billabong, in the sun and resting on the floor while moving positions, this lens just performs.
Price - At original purchase time it sure did seem a hefty price, but I get more satisfaction from this than many people would get from random use of a holiday house or boat.
The quality of the shots reassures the price asked for it.
The resolution from this lens is unmatched for a 'telephoto zoom' lens.
