YOKU Natural Soap Bar - Citrus & Rosemary Reviews

4.8 Rating 26 Reviews
Attractively packaged with no plastic in sight. First thing I did was to check the country it was made in, all too often environmental products gets shipped in from China. Certainly I did think the branding was systematic of a Chinese Amazon seller. Happy to report this is made in the UK, address being Bristol. I picked the Lemon & green tea bar. You notice the scent straightaway, not strong and not offensive in any way. The soap is relatively hard - I cut in half to last longer in the shower. Ingredients are various compounds of sodium (olive, coconut, shea butter)...nothing nasty. It takes a tiny bit of work to get a lather, which is fine but the scent doesn't transfer into the shower or the body so loses a star. The price is good, the product is good.

This natural bar of soap is great. It smells lovely with a citrus fragrance. It also gets you very clean without stripping the oils from your skin. Good value too.

This is a fab soap, I really like it. I love the scent, very pure rounded notes of lavender and patchouli. It smells like clean earth. I like the solid feel of the bar too, and the fact that it's wrapped in paper... No plastic! That's definitely worth a star by itself. On the skin, the soap is soft, for my nature skin, cleansing without drying, and effective on blemishes. My skin is quite sensitive, I had one of those small dry patches that take ages to go. I used the soap on it twice and it's gone. I'm really impressed with this and would buy it again. It's lovely.

If I’d reviewed this soap on the day I first tried it, I would’ve probably given it five stars. The initial smell of lavender and cedarwood is lovely, a nice old-fashioned scent with just a hint of sweetness, and just a little bit different. The soap itself is very standard in terms of how it lathers and the lasting effect it has on your hands, but the scent was definitely a plus point. Having used it for a few days now though, the magic has worn off, literally (well it’s not literally magic, so I guess it’s the smell that’s worn off). The soap simply doesn’t smell of anything any more. Rather than being a soap bar properly infused with scent and oils all the way through, so you can get the smell every day (as you can with other soap brands I like), it begins to feel like a bit of a snake oil trick where the aroma was coated on the outside and infused into the packaging, but the manufacturer skimped on actually scenting the soap properly. It’s very disappointing, and we’re left with a very ordinary lump of soap. There’s nothing wrong with the eco credentials, certainly. The outer packaging applied by Amazon meant that the bar we received wasn’t completely plastic-free, unfortunately, but it’s not too far off, and the paper bag packaging is quite sweet and would make for a fairly homely gift (again, if you can peel the retailer sticker off it without damaging it). But the plain inner box is eventually revealed to contain a fairly ordinary bar of soap where the aromatic excitement is disappointingly short-lived.

I love a good bar of soap and I’ve never really been a huge fan of bottles of shower gel - mainly because in my household shower gel seems to get used alarmingly quick. I switched to bars of soap to reduce recycling and also to see if they last longer than bottles of shower gel. I’ve been really impressed by this soap. Oh my goodness this bar is perfect! Smells gorgeous. It smells very soft and clean - if caring had a smell, it would be this. The texture is creamy and it just feels good for your skin. It leaves a very enjoyable but subtle smell on your skin that lasts for ages. The scent is subtle enough that even my husband likes it and I think he ended up using it more than me. It really does leave my skin very soft and moisturized. The best part is that there is not a single trace of plastic as it arrives wrapped and paper and cardboard.

Well presented, of lovely quality, this soap comes in with natural smells - you won't be getting a hint of heavy synthetic perfume with this one, so no toxin entering your home, skin and lungs, no waste added to the atmosphere. Combined with ignoring air-travel, petrol, diesel, tyres and tarmac, this type of products is the key to helping the environment recover. This soap smells of something citrus'y and 'out-of-grandma's-box', which is difficult to describe without your review being blocked as it might sound offensive. And I love this soap for it. Back to the beginnings to find the keys and the right path, just you follow the smell. It lathers wonderfully with barely more than a touch. It is a rich soap that leaves the skin super clean, it washes of wonderfully, no traces left, no struggle there like with all them cleansing substances coming in in tubes. Your skin is left with a feel like it could do with a bit of moisturising afterwards and this is what your soap should do - clean it properly without scrubbing of a couple of skin layers or adding a few, sticky and oily. Highly recommended.

I have never heard of this brand before and don’t usually use block soaps but I love the smell of both patchouli and lavender, so was eager to try this. The soap arrives boxed in a branded paper bag - no plastic so environmentally friendly and being a vegan product, I know it’s cruelty free. The soap is a brown square with yoku embossed on it and looks very stylish on my basin top. The smell of this soap is divine. To me, It’s evocative of 60s flower power. The soap lathers up well and is a comfortable size to hold. It leaves my hands feeling clean, soft and delicately fragranced. I am now eager to try the geranium rosehip scented soap from yoku, as if it’s as beautifully scented as the patchouli, these soaps are going to become firm favourites of mine.
