“Sri Lanka is a lovely country and tourist friendly. This Grasshopper tour was more varied than their tours in other Asian countries. It hit the mark for the riding section (although shorter than usual), the visit to the very popular Yala safari park, premium accommodation, Galle Fort and a great if, overworked, guide. The trains are of a previous era and fun but one train ride would have been enough. The 3 hour Horton Plain hike took us to the Worlds End lookout which looked out on nothing- but cloud. This is forecast ~50% of visits. So a bit more riding would have been nice instead. I was disappointed with the condition of my expensive E-bike which was presented with shot rear pads which needed replacing and an electrical fault where the battery power would operate normally then cutout expectantly. No remedy was found. Very annoying. One tip, Nuwara Eliya (Nu Railia) can be very cold, some warm gear recommended. Once again, it was a great group fellow riders and a good opportunity to share our experiences. Peter, November 2025”

“There’s no place like Sri Lanka! The scenery is amazing, the food is great and the people are friendly and welcoming. The trip has a lot of variety from beaches to mountains to tea plantations and even a safari. Go a couple of days early to explore Colombo and stay a couple of days in Galle. Overall an unforgettable trip!”

“In January 2022 Grasshopper provided our small group of friends with an experience in Sri Lanka beyond all expectations. The office staff and owner could not have been more helpful and accommodating in planning and preparing for the trip. The Sri Lanka experience was fascinating, fun, physically challenging and gave us such an appreciation for the people of Sri Lanka. Our guide, Nishan was exceptional. He could answer almost any question - from nature to culture and food, and was flexible about small changes when we wanted to stop and see something interesting or needed to run an errand for supplies. He was great company throughout and seemed to enjoy every minute of his job. “A really great way to experience Sri Lanka, an unbelievably beautiful, unique and diverse place. I am a 66 yo attorney who took up biking as my retirement passion. I had been on Grasshopper tours to northern Thailand and Maine and had great experiences with my previous Grasshopper tours. The itinerary, hotels, support and food were spectacular. The biking through the highland tea plantations down to the coast was mind blowing The biking was challenging but not too much for enjoying the unique experience. I am leaving next week to Bangkok for my next Grasshopper experience. If anyone has any questions, i ask Grasshopper to forward them to me.”
