“This lid completes me. I take my 40-oz HH water bottle literally everywhere (have to buy Mary Poppins purses big enough to fit it) and I can't have it leaking—but just like anyone I want me some quick, convenient swig action while driving or at the movie theater or such. I've gotten pretty practiced with how to release and lock the lid with almost no noise, so it can be quiet and sneaky. However, it does take concentration to get the flow to come quietly. There's no air-intake valve or anything to allow for circulation/flow as you drink, so if you try to suck that water out you just make a vacuum that sucks back...also pouring water from the HH bottle into anything else while this lid is on gets splashy for this reason as well, but to me, that "down side" is ultimately SO worth the confidence it gives that it will never be leaking in my bag or anywhere.
It seals soundly against the plastic seal when latched closed, and that latch holds well even without the metal clip securing over top of that. The release button is firm so no accidental pushing will trigger it, but it's not too firm to prevent a quick, one-handed pop. This also entertains children.
The handle is solid and holds up well to constant use. I discovered that it also helps me hold on to the bottle as I drink from it holding it in one hand. I hook my pointer finger around the curved edge and prop the bottle against my fingers as I tip it to drink, and it's great. I often clip my carabiner key ring on there too so I don't have to hold my keys at the gym but can keep them nearby.
The plastic the lid is made of is all sorts of solid. It cleans super easily. My husband works in a diesel garage fixing buses all night, so his plastic seal has some staining from that wild environment that we haven't been able to get off. Would be amazing to have the option someday to buy refill packs of the seals?? They pop out and go back in easily, so that seems like a good idea. :) Haven't had a single issue with the o-ring on the under side; that's all good there.
