“So, I completed the course and passed the assessment. However, I do not feel competent to undertake portable appliance testing, having not used or even seen any test equipment, nor actually having tested any examples of appliances, good or bad. I will now be expected to undertake PAT testing for the Repair Cafe who paid for this course, but I do not know how to use the testing equipment they provide or what the results of using it mean.”

Hello Chris, thank you for your review. I am very sorry to hear that the course isn’t what you expected. The course is designed to provide our learners with information on how to keep portable electric equipment safe in low risk environments through risk assessments, inspection and safe use of the equipment. It is intended that you review the manufacturers training on how to use the device. We are unable to advise on this as there are many different brands of PAT equipment that may have different instructions. I can see Repair and Share purchased the course for you, id recommend you raise this issue with them and if they wish to contact us to discuss this further they can.
