“Don't buy, I locked my Brompton to a table in a restaurant while ordering at a counter and had to have an awkward conversation with the staff to have them cut it free as the unlock mechanism had entirely failed and jammed. Searching online, this seemed to be a widespread problem, but I chanced it anyway hoping it was fixed in this revision. It wasn't... Don't buy unless you want to explain to your office you're half an hour late because your bike was stuck to a table at lunch...”

“Hiplok is light, strong & simple to use. No keys - 3 digit code opens it. Fits round wheel & frame or between 2 bikes. It’s great for cafe stops & brief leaving your bike outside a shop etc. Not expected to be a longterm deterrent but enough to make the casual bike thief look for easier pickings than your bike. Easy to carry round your seat tube. Great colours too - I got the petrol blue which is lovely & my friends have the sage green. Great piece of kit.”

“I have only owned these locks for a short time, but already have used them as an interim safety measure for a short period. I have no idea if they deterred a potential thief, but they were quick and straightforward to use, and certainly seem robust, with the steel core very much in evidence. The combination lock, which has caused, I gather, problems in the past, seemed a little stiff but secure once closed. All in all, a useful addition to the arsenal, but not, I feel, something to be left for long.”
“This is the second hiplok I bought (some jobsworth at Birmingham airport confiscated the previous ones because they said it acted like a cable tie). Anyway, the lock is great but the numbers are extremely hard to move, so much so I don't even bother changing the code most of the time. In the previous lock, they moved really easily and well but this time- very, very difficult. Maybe they will loosen up over time.”

“The combo set pin popped out suddenly while setting my 3-digit combo. I don't know what it was set to, so I'm going through all 999 combinations to try to reset it. Oops. I have a yellow version with a different combo mechanism which works great.”
