“I found these the best of the pierogi, but as explained when I reviewed these for the Council of Eaters, I had had these delivered chilled, which did not really work, as the very fine and delicate pastry became very sticky and the pierogi came out of the container in clumps. Problem should be solved by Homecooks decision to only offer these frozen from now on. Certainly others who contrived other ways to cook them, found them excellent, so after a "suitable period of mourning" for my first set of patched-up pierogi , I will try the frozen version at some point.”
“Made a nice change, but as others have said, they unfortunately stick together when not sent frozen, which is a shame and a bit of a pain to separate them.”
“After boiling from frozen I dry fried a couple mins on each side as not too keen on wet dumplings. Very tasty and added some parmigiana with the onion relish which I defrosted in microwave for 1 min as should have taken out of freezer earlier.”
“Sorry to be late with my review, but only got to these last night. After trying my first set of chilled pierogies, (potato & cheese) which arrived stuck together and did not work out well when I tried to lightly fry & then steam them, I saw some advice on the group site that suggested freezing orders that had been ordered & delivered chilled. I did that but these poor little pierogi’s had absorbed liquid when defrosting first time around & apparently even more water when I tried to cook them from frozen & were leaden & stodgy even tho I could tell when they first arrived that the dough had been delicate & paper thin. Others in the group had been able to turn out finished pierogi’s that they loved, but sadly ours were not a success. They were clearly a Labour of love by the cook, but there are issues about how best to deliver them & what is the best advice for cooking them.”
“Really tasty but like the other pierogis, received chilled and stuck together. Steamed for 20 minutes in traditional bamboo steamer and we ate as accompaniment to sausage and bacon.”
“Had this soup for lunch today. Very warming, creamy and comforting, but do struggle a bit with the cost as this is one portion of soup. It might be helpful to have a reminder on the packet of croutons to heat them in the oven, as they were pretty chewy in their non-heated state.”
