“I've alfready reviewed these on the Council of Eaters link. As explained, mine were delivered chilled and this did not really work. With the pork and saurkraut ones, I found the additional problem that they seemed way too salty Maybe the result of my efforts to rescue them by freezing them again as some on the C of E had suggested, and then completely thawing out for cooking. Didn't work, but problem should be resolved by HC's decision to only offer these delivered frozen from now on.”
“Not as tasty as the potato pierogi and unfortunately stuck together in the packet as they arrived fresh, not frozen. Maybe some greaseproof paper in between them would help?”
“Same issues as pointed out in my review of the other pierogis, (the potato & cheese ones & the meat ones) these were ordered chilled & arrived as a glutinous mass, & when I tried freezing them & then cooking, found I couldn’t hack them apart but had ti cook them in their “clumps.”
The results showed they had really suffered from the original de-frosting & then from the freezer. Aside from these issues, this variety with the saukrautvrasted too salty, perhaps also a result of all they had been thru before we cooked them. Others in the group however reported more successful results after applying various cooking techniques & I wish the cook every success in tweaking advice on how to handle these delicate little packets to get the best results.”
“The flavour was delicious, and the onion side was wonderfully. The textures of the pastry and filling were good too. The only issue was that my order arrived refrigerated and not frozen, which meant the dumplings were stuck together and tore slightly during cooking.”
“Giving the same rating as I did for the meat pierogi as, once cut with scissors to separate them from each other and steamed for 20 minutes, they were very tasty and perfect as part of a dim sum meal. However, I would strongly recommend these are delivered frozen.”
