One thing to note though is that the surface of the compass has a bit of scratched appearance. It's not merely one scratch, but instead the compass has a more used look to it. I like it because it added to the rustic personality of it, but that may affect others thoughts of it.”

He shook the box furiously before he was allowed to open it on his birthday, and despite it making some concerning sounds, it weathered his curiousity. The clasp seems a little bit delicate, so I still worry about that. The compass itself appears to work just fine. He was absolutely delighted with his gift.”
