“Once I worked out it needed to be mounted to something hard like wood for example , I was able to attach a piece of sleeper to the retaining wall and it’s worked well. Originally “ground mount” made it sound like it could be attached to the ground (like the lawn itself) but then I discovered this was not the case. Perhaps it should be called “fixed floor mount” or “fixed hard surface mount””
