Hi Wayne, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We have sold this product for many years and never once had one break down or become brittle therefore, you shouldn't need to worry about this. To easily remove the Tap Tuner, we recommend pushing down on one side of the handle, this will pop it away from the internal bar that sits over the tap and then it should easily remove.
