I wholeheartedly recommend HurleyWrite's Exceptional Technical Writing course for any busy professional who wants to improve their writing skills. This was an exceptional course providing concrete, actionable tips for immediately improving your writing--not only your technical papers, but your emails, memoranda, and presentations, too. The short lesson videos are well-produced and perfectly suited for self-paced study. You have the option to either use your own material for the writing assignments or to write a short piece in response to one of their writing prompts. The instructors provide valuable written and verbal feedback on every writing assignment and are available for further consultation.

I thought the program was right on the mark. The presenter kept the conversation and presentation engaging, via text and voice. The exercises were practical and pertinent to our daily activities which kept things interesting and applicable. The presentation had the correct amount of discussion and information to be useful for further study and reference in the future. I have already and will recommend this class to colleagues. The writing groups and technical writing were useful for new people through senior leaders.

I really liked this course. I have always regarded myself as a competent writer & communicator, but am always frustrated with what a lot of people regard as their own "good writing" or "good communication" skills (whether in a technical document or just a simple business email). I've even been obligated to sit through corporate-communications classes in the past that completely miss the mark on anything real or substantial. This course, on the other hand, tackled the real issues of why people's writing (or rather, just basic communicating) stinks and how to improve overall writing and the cognition of that writing. Every person from whom I have the pleasure of receiving an email, letter, or other business correspondence should be required to take this course. (I only wish!)

The course covers very well the fundamentals of good writing, which can help technical writers become much better. I think that the "technical" part was missing. How to break down complicated concepts and ideas, how to present formulas and processes in a clear way, that is also what this audience probably needed. I don't think this generic webinar went deep into that.
