It’s spill proof with the straw down but with it up it does spill. Another thing would be the straw needs to be up when filling up the water because if not when you lift the straw up after closing the lid it will squirt water out”

I love that they don’t leak at all, because they are often thrown in a bag or a purse, which we cannot do with our Stanley’s. It seems to hold ice just as well as our Stanley’s too.
