“I signed-up for the Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan Explorer just because I wanted to do something different and explore the part of the world I knew little of.
I was totally won over by Uzbekistan!!!! Samarkand was eye-popping with its tiled madrasahs. Will never forget the evening in Bukhara when we dined with a local family...homemade food, music, so much laughter.
Next was Turkmenistan, which honestly felt like another planet. One day I was poking around the ancient ruins of Merv, the next I was zipping around on the world’s tallest indoor Ferris wheel in Ashgabat. Surreal doesn’t even cover it. Did I make the right choice? Hell yea!!
It’s not a casual, touristy trip and that’s why it’s amazing. You feel as if you’re peeling back layers of history and learning about cultures you didn't;t think existed. This whole experience was very unique for me and I am happy I took this trip. The people here are so humble and welcoming. They really know the real meaning of hospitality.”
